From The Pastor’s Pen

It is hard to believe that we are already in the month of September. Where has the time gone? If we take the time to look back over this year, there have been a lot of things that have taken place. Some of those things we have embraced with open arms and others we are still reeling from. Life has a way of making you accept it on its terms. Many of the things that we have had to deal with we would have done differently had we been given control of our own destiny. One thing that stands out to me about this year is the fact that I have undertaken the task of working toward my Doctor of Ministry Degree at Gardner-Webb University. When I think about this undertaking, it is still unclear as to how and when all of this took place, I remember a friend and I were talking about additional training and education and before I knew it, I was filling out applications, getting references and now I have one class under my belt. If you were to ask me if I thought this was all by accident, I would have to say “no”.  God has a way of orchestrating things in a way that will allow us to know that He is ordering our steps. It is our responsibility to realize that God has a plan for us, and we need to trust Him to work things out for our good. Because we may not see how things will work out, we try to have some influence on their outcomes, not knowing that we only see part of the picture while God is privy to the entire picture. As we move through the rest of this year, I challenge each of you to trust God in the process and through the process. When we trust Him, we lower our stress levels and are able to enjoy all of the things that we would otherwise miss while we are trying to do what only God can do. Will you join me in a walk of faith?
